A1200/3.1 Floppy Fix

For all "new" A1200, that was produced unter ESCOM, the most old NDOS Spiele/Demos don`t work.
Thats because the READY Signal and Boardrail is missed for the Internal Diskdrive. The Developer of the Games, don`t know that there comes sometimes a Amiga without RDY. And now threre Games wait for someting that never happens. I hear Escom do that because they wan`t use cheap IBM-PC drives, but i don`t know if this is right. Okay, now i don`t want to live with it and order from "Patrick Pawlowski Software-Service" a Disk that should contain a solution for that. It was a Picture and a Manual from "Toni Pomar". That can found too in the Aminet. Its about connecting a Diode between Pin 1 of the external Diskdrive connector and Pin 10 of the Internal Drive connector. Okay, i do this. And realy my old games work again(sure turn off cached may needed) But than i use again DOS Disks then i get Read/Write errors most times with Block 880. I remove the Diode and all was fine again. The Data on the Disk that was used with that Floppy fix are gone. That disturb the OS, Toni Pomar means not. Okay, i add then simply a switch. If you use a very small one you can do this in a DB23 Connector Plug. Solder a cable on Pin 10(Select 0) of the Internal Drive Connector, that goes outsite of the Amiga1200D. RDY you can get from Internal or extrernal. On the Picture you can see how to do that. The Diode can be any normal type, like 1N4148.

All on your own risk!

The Picture is based on that one from Toni Pomar.

Another solution(but more expensive) is for example the "Winner HD-Laufwerk A357"(intern)
For that you have to solder a Bridge on another position, but alle RDY Problems are gone without a switch

You can`t exchange Commodore and Escom Drives. Many people ask why its new drive don`t work.
Very simple, they use the wrong drive typ for his A1200. If you have a Escom A1200 on the downsite of the Board is a bridge from Pin34(Intern) to Pin2(Intern).
If you have a Commodore A1200 it goes a bridge from Pin34(Intern) to Pin1(Extern).
If you wan`t to build a alien drive in your Amiga you have to change that bridge to the drive type.
The most new drives has a RDY Signal, because about 95% of all Amigas has RDY and a production of 2 different types are more expensive.
